Two Action Items That Need Your Immediate Attention

Dear Friend of the CNY Landowner’s Coalition:

The property rights we have to develop natural gas on our private properties is in serious jeapardy. Please don’t read this and then do nothing. We need your immediate attention to both of these items. It is truly “speak now or forever hold your piece (of the marcellus shale).”

ACTION ITEM #1: Attend our counter-rally in Albany on January 25, 2010.

“Say YES to Marcellus, Stop the Frackin’ Lies” Rally
… Because Enough Really is ENOUGH!!

They’re Spreading Lies!
On Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Various extremist groups will converge at the West Side of the New York State Capitol in Albany, to rally AGAINST natural gas exploration. These groups have continued to spread lies and outrageous accusations about the exploration of natural gas in New York’s Marcellus Shale, and now they’re going to Albany to try and convince lawmakers with their tall tales to stop drilling the Marcellus before it even starts.

Come Rally for the Truth!!
To ensure state lawmakers, the public and the media know the truth about natural gas exploration and the enormous opportunity for new jobs and clean energy, the Independent Oil and Gas Association (IOGA) of New York, in collaboration with the Landowner Coalitions from across New York, is hosting this counter-rally on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in Albany, on the East Side of the New York State Capitol.

IOGA, the landowners’ coalitions and various other groups are joining together by the BUSLOADS to let New Yorkers know the truth about natural gas exploration. Our opponents are expecting a crowd; and our numbers need to be DOUBLED! If we do not show our mass support of drilling in New York in the next 1-2 weeks, this tremendous opportunity may very well be gone for years to come.

There will be buses leaving from various locations across the state if you want to ride with other members of NY coalitions. For more information and to “Join the Bus,” please check our website (, respond to this email, or call 518-432-9087.

Don’t let the opposition overwhelm Albany lawmakers! – Our voices must be heard!

Fact vs. Fear
As you know, while natural gas exploration has been conducted safely in New York for decades, the public and lawmakers have been misinformed repeatedly by these extremist groups -- whose agenda is only to spread rumors, false information and fear against this new exploration. It is outrageous, uncalled for, and dangerous to the potential economic opportunities that are so needed, especially for those regions of our State that are economically deprived.

ACTION ITEM #2: Email Your Support of Natural Gas Development to Kevin McCabe, Governor Patterson’s regional director.

Since you are reading this by email, just take a minute to email the Governor’s regional director, Kevin McCabe ( This is our best opportunity to get our support of drilling to reach the governor’s desk. At a recent meeting, Mr. McCabe told us that he had received hundreds of emails about natural gas drilling but only a few dozen were by those in support. YOUR VOICE MUST BE HEARD!! Some points to kindly emphasize to Mr. McCabe are . .. 1) the DEC has done a great job putting together the SGEIS and monitoring drilling in our state; 2) Natural gas exploration has been a very safe practice in our state for over a century; 3) NY State residents desperately need the personal income and the State Government needs the tax revenue to help pull us all out of the current financial woes we are experiencing. Every member of your family should email Mr McCabe. Let’s flood his computer with thousands of resounding messages of support for the SGEIS to be accepted by this Spring and for the moratorium to be lifted by this Summer.

This email alert is not an exaggeration. If you don’t get involved, your landowner rights for natural gas exploration may soon be denied in New York. Please email Mr. McCabe immediately and then set aside this coming Monday, January 25th at 10am, to pack the East side of the New York State Capitol building in support of drilling.
