SCHOHARIE — Residents of two rural upstate New York counties have voiced their opposition to a plan to build a natural gas pipeline through their hometowns.
Several hundred people turned out for public hearings held this week in Chenango and Schoharie counties, part of the upstate region a 120-mile pipeline from northeastern Pennsylvania would traverse.
Many of those who spoke at the hearings told representatives from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission that they fear the pipeline would endanger their quality of life, water supplies and property values.
The Constitution Pipeline would run from Susquehanna County in Pennsylvania through New York’s Broome, Chenango, and Delaware counties to connect with the existing Tennessee and Iroquois pipelines in the Schoharie County town of Wright, 80 miles southwest of Albany.
so, no one spoke for the project? or the press would rather not say..........
